Can we still say "Happy New Year" without being late? Oh well... Keep reading.
For the 1,000,000th time, Happy New Year to you, my friends. A new year, a new beginning, a reset button that comes around every 12 months that gives us permission to reinvent ourselves with the goal of being our best possible version. We make resolutions, create vision boards, buy planners, and join gyms in order to achieve the goals that we have set for this new cycle.
But what good is all of this newness if we are holding on to old hurts from the past?
Let me explain. Have you ever been to the mechanic for an oil change? Well, when you give them your car, they will drain the old oil and change the filter before adding a new filter and new oil. This is so your car can run better and more efficiently, right? So when we ring in a new year, a new season, new relationship, or whatever; why do we pile on the new stuff on top of our old crap? Yes, crap. This is akin to pouring fresh oil into the old oil. The result = still dirty, old oil. The same rings true when holding on to anger, bitterness, paranoia, anxiety, hate, and fear in a new phase of life.
“Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. And the peace of God [which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
It's time to let the old crap go and MOVE FORWARD!!!! God's word says its okay, he's got your back!!
Are you sad about a breakup? Pray for a mended heart, strength, and that God's will manifest in your love life.. then MOVE FORWARD.
Did you get fired from your job? Pray for courage, favor, opportunities, and that God's will manifest in your career... then MOVE FORWARD.
Got a bad health report? Pray for divine healing, pray for strength, pray for deliverance from the disease...then MOVE FORWARD.
Believe that you have received what you ask for in Jesus name... then MOVE FORWARD.
Don't contaminate new blessings with old crap. Ask God for the strength you need to push ahead, take a deep breath, and MOVE FORWARD.
It's 2016, and it's time. You can do it!
