#WCW = We CAN Wednesday: We Won't Stop!
/To 2018: "...we ain't finished, I told you we won't stop!"
I woke up this morning, said "Thank you, Lord" for another day. During my a.m. Instagram scroll, I saw this gem of a wake up call from none other than goddess Serena Williams.
YASSS Sis!!! Definitely everyone's #WCW!
Later today I read the Vogue February 2018 cover story that features Serena Williams' recount of the serious complications that she suffered after the birth of her beautiful daughter, and the later bout with postpartum depression.
The contrast between Serena's physical and emotional challenges in 2017, and her triumphant, Rih-Rih infused, dance break serve as the best possible inspiration for the 2018 return of #WCW. Although 2017 wasn't all bad, for many of us it was a year of transition, change, difficulties, and harsh realizations. I'll admit that for me, 2017 was one of the hardest, but rewarding years of my life. It was the year that caused me to understand how strong I am, how much I am capable of, and how some things that I desperately fought for were not what I needed at all. We all know Psalm 30:5, "... weeping may endure for a night, but JOY cometh in the morning." Do you know what that means? It means that although we will go through difficulties, we WILL get to a point where we can rejoice again.
JOY, JOY, JOY!!!
2018 is the year where we get our joy back. We dust off the failings of the past, attitudes that feed drama, and mindsets that foster defeat. You don't need them anymore, its a new day! Make the declaration to truly make 2018 your YEAR OF VICTORY!
As for me, I am bopping, dipping, and two-stepping into this year knowing that my morning of JOY is NOW! We will not stop the success that God has planned for us, we thank Him for his favor. We will not allow negativity and self-doubt to derail our progress, we will continue to push forward. We will not let laziness and bad decisions continue to harm our bodies, we will respect and honor our temple. This is the only life we have, our specific time to do what we can on earth, and "this ain't a scrimmage".
Today, I dance with Serena and allow joy to exude from my being. Life is good, God is good, all things work together for good (Rom 8:28). 2018 will be the best one yet. Got it?
"I told you WE WON'T STOP!"
Love ya!
