Close Your Eyes and Jump! A Dedication
/In 2007, I started my first blog called StatusCarolina.com, which was supposed to be a "girl about town" view of life in Charlotte, NC - where I used to live. It was a stop and start, hit and miss endeavor, which I gave up in 2009 when I moved from the area. Since then, I have literally had daydreams of starting a successful media platform. However, instead of restarting my writing hobby, I used my gift to benefit employers in their businesses, working in dead end jobs that drained my gifts and gave me little to show for it.
I dabbled in media here and there - submitting articles to a local Caribbean-centered newspaper, and co-hosting a few episodes of a friend's talk radio show. All of these were fun learning experiences that I am thankful to have had. However, these were platforms that I could not mold into what I wanted them to be. I couldn't tweak and edit and shape to something that represented my core interests and beliefs. To be able to do this, I needed to have my own platform, something that belonged to me.
So here it is. My own platform for ideas, discussion, and inspiration. It is time for me to use all of the daydreams that have been idle for all of these years; all of the untapped areas of my brain, all of the gifts that God has entrusted in me, to create a medium that is excitingly meaningful, refreshingly informational, and completely my own. I have so many ideas that sometimes I can't sleep at night, ideas that sometimes cause my heart to surge in my chest. What dreams excite you? What ideas churn in your mind, impatiently begging for action, for you to close your eyes and jump?
Honestly, I don't know what will happen this time around... But what I do know is this; with consistency, creativity, and prayer, this blog, my blog, will be more than what I've ever dreamed or expected. I'm excited....
A Dedication:
This blog, tev, is dedicated to all who have encouraged me in my lifetime. To my friends who boost me up and give me inspiration, to my family who have my back, I thank you.
This is for my Mother, who is the beautiful embodiment of the Strong Black Woman, my real-life example of the Proverbs 31 Woman. She held us up so that we can have a chance to pursue our dreams. I hope I make you proud someday, Junie!
And this is for my husband, who makes me feel like the woman I always thought I could be. For your love, strength, and support, I am forever grateful.
